AI and Machine Learning to Transform India’s Power Sector, Says Manohar Lal

Haryana Governor Manohar Lal highlights the transformative potential of AI-driven technologies in boosting efficiency, reliability, and sustainability across India’s power sector.

New Delhi : Haryana Governor Manohar Lal has emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)–based applications will play a pivotal role in transforming India’s power sector, driving greater efficiency, reliability, and transparency across the ecosystem.

Speaking at a national-level event, Manohar Lal stated that India is undergoing a rapid technological shift, and the adoption of AI-enabled tools is becoming essential for modernizing critical infrastructure, especially the power sector—one of the backbone industries of the nation.

He noted that AI and ML can significantly enhance grid management, enabling real-time monitoring of energy demand and supply, predicting equipment failures, and improving load forecasting accuracy. These technologies can help reduce transmission losses, optimize energy distribution, and ensure uninterrupted power supply for consumers.

Manohar Lal also highlighted the growing importance of predictive analytics, automated meter reading, smart grids, and digital monitoring systems. According to him, such innovations not only strengthen operational efficiency but also support India’s renewable energy goals by integrating solar, wind, and other green sources more seamlessly into the grid.
