Aurangabad | July 13, 2025 – A major boost is coming to Aurangabad’s industrial landscape as a 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre is set to be established at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this initiative is expected to be signed next week, according to Secretary of DPIIT, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, during his visit to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar on July 12, 2025.

The Secretary emphasized the importance of attracting Global Capability Centre (GCC) investments and setting up R&D centres to elevate the region’s industrial innovation ecosystem. His visit included multiple engagements with industry leaders, startup founders, and government officials.

At a high-level industry interaction held at AURIC Hall, key stakeholders including MASSIA, CMIA, CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM presented strategic recommendations aimed at strengthening the region’s industrial growth:

  • Boosting connectivity along Aurangabad–Hyderabad–Chennai corridors
  • Establishing local train services between Jalna and Waluj
  • Developing a Vande Bharat terminal and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) facility
  • Improving logistics access at Bidkin Industrial Area
  • Creating a dedicated chemical zone
  • Expanding MSME land reservation from 10% to 40%
  • Reserving 10% land for startups
  • Offering affordable housing through MHADA
  • Enhancing soft infrastructure and skilling facilities at AURIC

A key housing recommendation was the integration of PMAY 2.0 subsidies with state housing policies for inclusive residential development in the industrial zone.

Dr. P. Anbalagan, Secretary of the Industries Department, Government of Maharashtra, shared the state’s forward-looking industrial growth vision via initiatives like Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL) and Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLP).

The Secretary also engaged with innovators at MAGIC (Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council), praising their entrepreneurial spirit and reaffirming central government support through Startup India, Fund of Funds, and sectoral incentive schemes.

Bhatia reviewed infrastructure progress at key industrial sites:

  • Bidkin: JSW Green-Tech Ltd., Toyota Kirloskar unit, Water Treatment Plant
  • Shendra: NLMK India, Hyosung T&D Pvt. Ltd., Coatall Films Pvt. Ltd.

He also visited AURIC’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the modern AURIC Hall, and the 3D city model of Shendra, commending the smart infrastructure under Viksit Bharat@2047.

AURIC spans over 10,000 acres across Shendra and Bidkin, offering a balanced urban-industrial ecosystem—60% of the land for industries, 40% for residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare purposes. Key features include:

  • Underground utilities, smart metering, and SCADA-based systems
  • Treated wastewater fulfilling 42% of water needs
  • Low power tariffs under its own electricity distribution license
  • E-land management for transparent land allotment

Bhatia reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to fostering government-industry collaboration and positioning Maharashtra as a global manufacturing and innovation hub. The visit highlighted the state’s preparedness to attract future-ready investments and create inclusive, sustainable growth across its industrial corridors.
