Rajkummar Rao’s intense gangster drama Maalik is picking up momentum at the box office, outshining Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, the debut film of Shanaya Kapoor. Directed by Pulkit, the film earned ₹4.45 crore on its second day, taking its total to ₹8.2 crore in just two days.
According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Maalik saw an improvement in audience turnout on Saturday. The film recorded an overall 14.16% occupancy in Hindi markets, with evening shows drawing the largest crowds at 19.14%. This marks a notable jump from its Day 1 collection of ₹3.75 crore.
In contrast, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey, continues to struggle at the ticket window. The film managed to earn only ₹36 lakh on its second day, pushing its two-day total to ₹66 lakh. Despite the marginal growth from its ₹30 lakh opening, the romantic drama is trailing far behind Rao’s action-packed Maalik.
While Maalik is winning over audiences with its gritty storytelling and Rajkummar Rao’s powerful performance, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is facing a lukewarm response, both critically and commercially.
With strong word-of-mouth and a growing audience base, Maalik is expected to maintain its lead over the coming weekend.
