Mumbai, June 1, 2025- Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has made a revelation that’s stirring emotions across the film industry and among his fans. The actor, who is currently gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, has confirmed that his long-awaited dream project—Mahabharat—will be his full-time focus after this release, and possibly his final cinematic venture.

Speaking on entrepreneur Raj Shamani’s podcast, Aamir opened up about his deep connection to the ancient epic and said that its emotional and spiritual scale could leave him feeling complete as an artist. “Maybe after doing this, I will feel I have nothing left to do. I cannot do anything after this,” Aamir said, referring to the Mahabharat as the most profound and complex narrative he has ever encountered.

“It’s layered, it has emotion, it has scale—everything you find in the world, you will find in Mahabharat,” he added, emphasizing how personally meaningful the story is to him.

The actor, known for his method acting and cinematic precision, has carried this dream for years, but said the time has finally come to bring it to life. Interestingly, Aamir revealed that while he will spearhead the project, he may not direct or even act in it himself. “We’ll see who we should cast based on who’s appropriate for which part,” he said.

Aamir believes that the Mahabharat is far too vast for a single film. He envisions the story unfolding across multiple parts, potentially creating an Indian cinematic universe based on the epic.

“I don’t think you can tell Mahabharat in one film… we’ll need more than one director. It’s that big,” he noted, hinting at a multi-director collaboration to handle the scale and richness of the narrative.

Reflecting on his career’s future, the 59-year-old actor shared that this could be the culmination of his creative journey. “I hope I die with my shoes on, but since you’re asking, this is the one thing I can think of. Perhaps after this, I won’t feel the need to do anything else,” he said.

Aamir had earlier told The Hollywood Reporter that even the scripting process could take several years, calling Mahabharat “one of my biggest ambitions.” That vision now appears to be moving into the execution phase.

On the personal front, Aamir Khan also confirmed being in a relationship with Gauri Spratt, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur. The two were recently spotted enjoying a Sunday outing in Mumbai with Aamir’s son, Azad.

As the industry awaits more details on the Mahabharat project, fans are already anticipating what could be the most ambitious cinematic undertaking in Indian film history.
