The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially announced the launch of its Technician Recruitment drive for the 2025–26 session. A total of 6,180 vacancies are available across India, with the online application process scheduled to begin on June 28, 2025. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through the official portal at https://www.rrbapply.gov.in until July 28, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
Of the total vacancies, 180 posts are designated for Technician Grade 1 (Signal) roles, while the remaining 6,000 are for Technician Grade 3 positions. This recruitment initiative aims to reinforce the Indian Railways’ technical workforce through a structured and transparent selection process. The recruitment process will consist of a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and a medical examination.
For Technician Grade 1 (Signal), candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Instrumentation. Alternatively, a diploma or degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline is also acceptable. Applicants for these posts must be between 18 and 33 years of age as of July 1, 2025.
For Technician Grade 3 roles, the minimum qualification required is Class 10 (SSLC/Matriculation) along with a completed ITI or Apprenticeship in specific trades such as Foundryman, Moulder, Pattern Maker, or Forger and Heat Treater. The age eligibility for these positions ranges from 18 to 30 years. Age relaxations will be applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.
The remuneration for Technician Grade 1 (Signal) is aligned with Pay Level 5 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a starting salary of ₹29,200 per month. Technician Grade 3 roles fall under Pay Level 2, offering an initial monthly salary of ₹19,900. Both roles are entitled to applicable allowances and benefits as per government regulations.
The application fee is ₹250 for candidates from SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Women, Transgender individuals, Minorities, and Economically Backward Classes. This amount will be fully refunded upon appearance in the CBT. For candidates from other categories, the application fee is ₹500, with ₹400 refundable after the CBT is taken.
The short notification for this recruitment was published in the Employment News dated June 16, 2025. The detailed advertisement under CEN 02/2025 is expected to be released by June 27, 2025. Candidates are advised to refer to the complete notification for detailed eligibility criteria, zone-wise vacancy distribution, syllabus, and examination guidelines.
