iPhone 16 to See Price Drop? Apple Trains Workers in India for Local Production

Apple is making significant strides in expanding its manufacturing capabilities in India by planning to assemble the premium Pro and Pro Max models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series through its partner, Foxconn. This marks the first time these high-end models will be produced in India.

According to a Bloomberg News report, Apple has already initiated the training of thousands of workers at its Foxconn-operated factory in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, in preparation for the production of these models. The ‘new product introduction’ (NPI) process, which involves setting up the production lines and ensuring that the workforce is trained to handle the sophisticated manufacturing process, will begin soon.

This initiative is part of Apple’s broader strategy to diversify its production outside of China and tap into the growing manufacturing ecosystem in India. Once the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are officially launched, the production will transition from the NPI phase to mass production, allowing Apple to meet global demand while also catering to the Indian market. This move is expected to boost local manufacturing capabilities and contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, further strengthening Apple’s presence in the country.
