The Lack of Transparency Conducting NEET Exams, government should re-conduct the NEET exam:- Kumari Selja

The Dreams of millions of students to become doctors are being shattered Due to faulty practices:- Kumari Selja

Chandigarh/Sirsa, 18th June , 2024- The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and Member of Parliament from Sirsa Lok Sabha, Kumari Selja said that the continuous questions being raised clearly indicate that the NEET exam is not clean at all. The BJP-led central government should re-conduct the NEET exam. The kind of malpractices that have been exposed so far clearly show that the central government is shattering the dreams of millions of students of becoming doctors. The NTA and the Ministry of Education are continuously misleading the Supreme Court and the candidates.

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that after the last date for applying for NEET (UG) – 2024 on March 16, the National Testing Agency (NTA) opened the registration window for one day on April 9-10, during which 24,246 new applications were filled in 24 hours. The NTA and the Ministry of Education are unable to provide information on how many of these applicants qualified and how many became top rankers. The Lok Sabha MP Selja said that in the last five years, the number of students scoring between 620 to 720 marks remained between 13,000 to 15,000, but this time it increased up to five times. The notable point is that only the number of high-scoring students increased, while there was no significant increase in the number of low-scoring students, in fact, they decreased in percentage. This time, 58,263 students scored between 620-720 marks. Kumari Selja said that if all the links related to NEET across the country are connected, it is evident that there has been large-scale malpractice, paper leaks, and various other kinds of settings. In the matter of giving candidates their desired centers, the Gujarat police have so far arrested 5 people, from whom checks worth ₹2.3 crore were recovered. The Bihar police have arrested 13 accused in the paper leak case. The police also found burnt NEET papers, but why is the NTA refusing to acknowledge this? Kumari Selja said that due to the loss of time, 1,563 students were given grace marks, but neither the NTA’s governing body was consulted for approval, nor was it disclosed who recommended the grace marks formula for the loss of time in CLAT. The Supreme Court has set the hearing date for NTA’s response on July 8, so why isn’t the counseling date being postponed from 6th July Kumari Selja said that the NEET scandal is related to the future of 2.4 million children in the country, so instead of protecting the favorites, the central government should immediately announce the cancellation of the exam and declare a new date for the exam.
