Union Home Minister Amit Shah addresses ‘Smriti Parv’ Programme in Junagadh, Gujarat

New Delhi , 02 December 2023– In a commemorative event held on the birth centenary of Shri Divyakant Nanavati in Junagadh, Gujarat, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah delivered an address at the ‘Smriti Parv’ programme. The event, organized by Rupayatan Sanstha, paid tribute to Shri Divyakant Nanavati Ji, a dedicated public servant and influential figure in Gujarat.

Shri Amit Shah highlighted Shri Divyakant Nanavati’s significant contributions to society, emphasizing his role as an MLA for two consecutive terms and his tenure as the Law and Justice Minister in the Government of Gujarat. Shah acknowledged the publication of a book by Rupayatan Sanstha, describing it as a guide for the leaders of the new generation. He expressed the belief that the impact of a person’s life enduring for a century signifies its profound meaning.

The Home Minister also praised Shri Narsingh Mehta Ji, a prominent figure in Bhakti Sahitya, recognizing his lifelong dedication to literature. Shah commended Mehta’s ability to present the intricacies of Vedas and Upanishads in a concise and accessible manner, noting his courageous stance against untouchability. Shah asserted that understanding Shri Narsingh Mehta Ji is essential for comprehending social justice.

Shri Amit Shah commended Rupayatan Sanstha for its commendable work spanning 75 years in various dimensions of social life. He highlighted the organization’s role in preserving and transmitting the cultural heritage of Gujarat and Saurashtra. Shah specifically praised Shri Bhikhudan Gadhvi, acknowledging his contribution to bridging generations in literature. Shri Bhikhudan Gadhvi, a recipient of the Padma Shri award, was recognized by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his substantial impact on Gujarati literature.

The Home Minister concluded by affirming the commitment of the Modi government to recognizing deserving individuals through the Padma Awards, ensuring that those who contribute significantly to the nation are duly honored. The event, held on the sacred land associated with Shri Narsingh Mehta Ji, is expected to serve as an inspiration for individuals involved in public life in Junagadh and Gujarat.
