The rise in precious metal prices came amid reports of renewed tensions between the United States and Iran. The development followed indirect talks between the two countries, with reports indicating that negotiations had stalled.
US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Washington faced a choice between further military action against Iran and reaching an agreement with Tehran.
Meanwhile, reports said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had asked Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his delegation to leave New York after negotiations stalled.
Retail gold and silver prices can vary between jewellers and locations. Buyers should also note that the final price of jewellery may include making charges, taxes and GST, which can increase the amount payable compared with the quoted bullion rate.
Gold and silver rates can change throughout the trading session depending on domestic and international market movements.
