Special focus of Haryana Government on education, research and skill development: CM Nayab Singh Saini

Sonipat, April 6 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that today is a milestone in the history of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) and an unforgettable moment in the lives of students receiving their degrees. The Chief Minister welcomed and felicitated the Vice President of India,  C. P. Radhakrishnan, who attended the convocation ceremony as the Chief Guest. Haryana Governor and Chancellor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the convocation ceremony, Chief Minister  Nayab Singh Saini congratulated all the students on their success. He said that the degrees and medals received today are the result of years of hard work, discipline, and dedication of the students. He also appreciated the contribution of teachers and parents.

Saini said that the university is named after the great social reformer and champion of farmers, Deenbandhu Chaudhary Chhotu Ram, who considered education as the most powerful means to overcome poverty and ignorance. He said that the institution is playing an important role in nation-building by combining his ideals with modern technology and science.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana has established a distinct identity as a leading state in the country by making remarkable progress in education, sports, culture, research, and industry. The government aims to ensure that every youth in Haryana becomes self-reliant and capable of competing at the global level. Several important steps have been taken in the field of higher education to achieve this objective.

He informed that to promote research, the state government has made a provision of ₹20 crore under the Haryana State Research Fund. In the year 2025–26, more than 350 research proposals were received, out of which around 90 proposals have been shortlisted. An additional provision of ₹20 crore has also been made for this fund this year.

The Chief Minister said that, along with education, the government is also focusing on skill development of youth. He stated that under a transparent recruitment process, approximately 2 lakh youth have been provided employment without any unfair practices.

He further informed that the state government is taking steps towards establishing AI and digital colleges, where modern technology-based teaching systems will be implemented. In addition, a special fund of ₹10 crore will also be set up to promote quality higher education and research excellence.

The Chief Minister called upon students to work hard for competitive examinations and to become mentally, physically, and morally strong. He said that in today’s competitive era, dedication and continuous effort are essential for success.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended his best wishes to all the graduating students for a bright future and congratulated the university administration for successfully organizing the event. He urged everyone to collectively resolve to take Haryana and India to new heights at the global level.

On this occasion, Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, Vice Chancellor Prof. Prakash Singh, BJP State President Mohanlal Badoli, MLA from Rai Krishna Gahlawat, MLA from Sonipat Nikhil Madan, Police Commissioner Mamta Singh, Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ajay Chopra, SDM Subhash Chandra, BJP District President (Sonipat) Ashok Bhardwaj, and District President (Gohana) Bijender Malik, along with numerous other dignitaries and officials, were present.
