New Delhi, 6 April 2026 – In a landmark engagement, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with the core committee of sanitation workers’ unions from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi at the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sadan. Union representatives voiced their concerns regarding recruitment, regularisation, wages, workplace safety, healthcare and the need for a more dignified work environment.

During the discussion, sanitation workers emphasized the importance of permanent employment, proper healthcare facilities, and recognition of their essential contribution to the city. Chief Minister Gupta listened carefully to all the issues and reassured the workers that their welfare is a top government priority. She acknowledged the critical role sanitation staff play in maintaining a clean and functional city and stressed that their rights and dignity will be actively protected.

The Chief Minister instructed the concerned departments to promptly examine the demands raised and implement practical solutions to improve working conditions, ensure safety, and provide fair compensation. She reiterated that the Delhi government remains committed to creating a supportive and secure environment for all sanitation personnel while enhancing their overall quality of life.
