Varun Kumar Sinha Takes Charge as Advisor in Bihar Unit of National Journalists’ Protection Commission

-Pledges commitment to journalists’ safety, rights protection and strengthening of independent media

Patna:In a significant administrative development, Varun Kumar Sinha has formally assumed charge as Advisor in the Bihar State Executive Committee of the National Journalists’ Protection Commission.

In a letter addressed to National President Nishi Kant Roy, Sinha stated that he would discharge the responsibility entrusted to him with sincerity, integrity and dedication. He emphasized that ensuring journalists’ safety, safeguarding their rights and strengthening independent journalism would remain his top priorities.

The National Journalists’ Protection Commission plays an active role across the country in addressing cases of harassment against journalists, intervening in matters related to their safety, and protecting the rights of media professionals. The Commission has constituted state executive committees in various states to strengthen grassroots-level functioning and ensure prompt assistance and justice for journalists.

Sinha brings extensive experience in social and organizational fields. Considering his background, he was entrusted with the advisory role in the Bihar State Executive. Office bearers of the organization expressed confidence that his experience and vision would provide new direction and momentum to the Commission’s activities.

Expressing confidence in his role, Sinha said he would make concrete efforts at the state level to resolve issues faced by journalists. He noted that in changing times, challenges related to safety, legal matters and professional concerns require a coordinated and sensitive approach.

Members of the Bihar State Executive and various journalist organizations have welcomed his appointment. Senior journalists expressed hope that his inclusion would make the Commission more active, effective and people-oriented. With his joining, there is optimism that efforts toward journalists’ safety and rights in Bihar will gain further momentum.
