Hrithik Roshan Pays Emotional Tribute to Mentor MM Baig After His Passing

Mumbai, February 21, 2026: Actor Hrithik Roshan has shared a deeply personal message mourning the loss of veteran filmmaker M M Baig, crediting him as a guiding force during the early years of his acting journey.

Baig, known for his contributions to Hindi cinema and for mentoring young talent, was found deceased at his Mumbai residence earlier this week. He was in his seventies.

Taking to social media, Hrithik reflected on how Baig entered his life when he was just 18 and struggling with self-doubt. The actor acknowledged that Baig played a pivotal role in improving his speech, delivery, and overall confidence at a time when he felt uncertain about his path.

Roshan wrote that the lessons imparted by Baig continue to shape his craft even today, adding that he would always remain grateful for the encouragement and discipline instilled in him during those formative years. He extended condolences to the filmmaker’s family and described him as a teacher who helped transform vulnerability into strength.

According to reports shared by his publicist, Baig had been facing health challenges and was living alone. Concerned neighbours reportedly alerted authorities after noticing unusual circumstances at his residence. Police later recovered his body and sent it for post-mortem examination at Cooper Hospital.

M.M. Baig began his film career as an assistant director and collaborated with prominent names in the industry, including Rakesh Roshan, J Om Prakash, and Vimal Kumar. Over the years, he contributed to several mainstream Hindi films and earned recognition for his technical expertise and understanding of performance.

He was also widely known as the father of former child actor Baby Guddu.

Hrithik Roshan made his debut as a leading man in the blockbuster Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000), directed by his father Rakesh Roshan, and quickly rose to stardom. Over the years, he has delivered major hits across genres, cementing his position as one of Bollywood’s leading stars.

With Baig’s passing, members of the film fraternity have remembered him as a quiet yet influential figure who helped shape several careers from behind the scenes.

The industry continues to mourn the loss of a mentor whose impact extended far beyond the credits roll.
