Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva Accorded Ceremonial Welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was accorded a grand ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday, marking the formal commencement of his state engagements in India.

The visiting leader was welcomed with full state honours in the forecourt of the presidential palace, including a Guard of Honour and the playing of the national anthems of both countries. Senior Indian dignitaries were present to receive him as part of the traditional protocol extended to visiting heads of state.

The ceremonial reception underscored the growing strategic and economic partnership between India and Brazil, two major voices of the Global South and key members of multilateral groupings such as BRICS and the G20.

Following the formal welcome, President Lula is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with Indian leadership, focusing on trade expansion, defence cooperation, renewable energy, agriculture, and climate collaboration. Both sides are also expected to explore avenues for enhancing South-South cooperation and strengthening multilateral engagement.

The visit is seen as an important step toward deepening bilateral ties and advancing shared priorities in sustainable development and global governance reforms.
