Delhi Police Organises ‘Khaki Ke Rang–Bacho Ke Sang’ Awareness Programme for Girls’ Safety and Empowerment

Outer District Police strengthens police–school–community synergy at Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Baprola

New Delhi: In a significant step towards community policing and girls’ empowerment, the Outer District Police, Delhi, organised a large-scale awareness programme titled “Khaki Ke Rang–Bacho Ke Sang” at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Baprola, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ranhola. The initiative aimed at creating a safer, more aware and empowered future for girl students.

The programme focused on child welfare, cyber safety, road safety, self-defence, and women empowerment, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teachers, Resident Welfare Association (RWA) members, Aman Committee members and local residents, highlighting a strong police–school–community partnership.

The event was graced by senior police officials including Madhup Kumar Tewari, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), Zone-II, who attended as the Chief Guest; Jatin Narwal, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Western Range; Sachin Sharma, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer District; Narra Chaitanya, Additional DCP-I; Manoj Kumar Meena, Additional DCP-II; and Ms. Anita Behl, Principal of the school, along with other senior officers of the Outer District Police.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the diya, symbolising knowledge, safety and empowerment, followed by Maa Saraswati Vandana. Additional DCP-II Manoj Kumar Meena anchored the event and addressed students on goal-setting, discipline, career focus and social responsibility. Students presented welcome and patriotic performances, setting an inspiring tone for the programme.

Welcoming the gathering, DCP Sachin Sharma highlighted various community policing initiatives undertaken by Outer District Police, including girls’ empowerment programmes, cyber awareness campaigns, self-defence training, Nirbheek, Nazuk and Sanskarshala initiatives, traffic awareness drives and senior citizen outreach programmes.

Addressing students, Joint CP Jatin Narwal emphasised effective time management, skill development and maintaining a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular activities. He lauded the role of teachers in shaping responsible citizens.

The cultural and awareness segment featured impactful student performances, including a street play on child marriage, dances promoting inclusion by Children With Special Needs (CWSN), songs on girl child education, traditional cultural dances, and a self-defence demonstration showcasing practical safety techniques. A Class X student, Manisha, also recited a patriotic poem titled “Jab Tak Sooraj Chanda Chamke, Tab Tak Yeh Hindustan Rahe”, which resonated deeply with the audience.

A dedicated cyber awareness session was conducted by the SHO of Cyber Police Station, educating students about online safety, cyber threats, reporting mechanisms, the Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, and the cyber safety mantra — “ZIP IT, BLOCK IT, FLAG IT.”

During the programme, winners of the road safety quiz were awarded, students who prepared sketches of senior police officers were felicitated, recovered lost and stolen mobile phones were handed over to rightful owners, and Good Samaritans were recognised for their commendable actions.

In his keynote address, Special CP Madhup Kumar Tewari stressed the importance of education, preventing school dropouts, cyber hygiene, responsible social media use, early reporting of cyber crimes, and girls’ empowerment. He also underlined the vital role of teachers as nation builders.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, reinforcing unity, patriotism and collective responsibility. Outer District Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to child protection, women safety, cyber security, road safety and community policing, in collaboration with educational institutions and citizens.
