Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood visited the employment fair in the school located in Rohini and encouraged the children.

Ashish Sood today participated as the Chief Guest in the Vocational Placement Drive, Employment Fair- 2025-2026 organized by the Education Department at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Rohini, Delhi. On this occasion, regional MLA Rajkumar Chauhan, Education Secretary, Director of Education and children, along with their parents and representatives of many companies providing employment to the children were also present.
On this occasion, the Education Minister discussed in detail with the representatives of the employing companies, the process of selection of the children of government schools for employment in their companies, and how much salary and facilities etc. will be given to these students. Along with this, he also discussed with the children about how they will build their future with these companies and connect themselves with the main stream of the society.
He said that seeing you all in such large numbers makes me extremely happy. And we are also delighted that times are slowly changing. Times are changing because now the right opportunities, abilities and talent have started becoming available as per the skills.
The Education Minister said that this program is not just a placement drive, but it is a symbol of how much progress vocational education has made in Delhi government schools, and how the Delhi government is committed to giving every student a dignified and promising future in the times to come.
Sood said that in the last academic session, more than 4.2 lakh students opted for vocational education in various trades in government schools of Delhi, which shows that skill-based education has now become an integral part of mainstream education.
He also said that this initiative is in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes the integration of academic and vocational education. The goal of the Delhi government is that every student is not only ready for school, but also for skill-based education and the challenges of the future.
Under this placement drive, more than 30 reputed employers—like HCL, Haldiram, Citikart, Navgurukul, Tech Mahindra, etc. have provided job opportunities to students who have completed vocational education with class 12 in the year 2024–25 or before.
Sood said, this drive is a golden opportunity for the students to connect with the industry, so that they not only understand the career options but also get exposed to the expectations of the business world.
He further added that a transformation has started to take place in the country in the last 11 years. In place of legacy and entitlement, now the youth have started getting suitable opportunities according to their merit, due to which skill and talent have started getting recognition, and as a result, many children from ordinary homes are being selected for high positions based on their ability.
Sood said that the work of providing opportunities to skills and talent which has started under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government is determined to continue carrying it forward under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The Education Minister also said that with the initiatives of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas, many such employment opportunities have started, opening the way for youth who are full of confidence, self-confident, as well as confident in their knowledge to get many employment opportunities.
He further said that in the coming time, the Delhi government will eliminate the gap between government and private schools. The government is upgrading government schools in the context of infrastructure, opportunities, equality, promoting talent, and the learning outcomes of children studying in school.
In the coming five years, the Delhi government is rapidly providing smart classrooms, robotics, data science, ICT labs, personal computers in every classroom for the students of classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in every school of Delhi.
He told the students present, when you pass the twelfth grade from these government schools and go to university, you will not be a novice to the gadgets and technology. Because in these government schools, along with your studies, you will also be provided with opportunities for practical work. No child will feel that only academic knowledge is imparted in schools; rather, skill-based education is also being provided in these schools.
Sood said that the big companies like HCL, Haldiram, Tech Mahindra, etc., have come here for the placement of children and by coming here, they have worked to recognize the talent of the youth. It is the collective effort of our government schools, thw administrators working in the Education department, the female teachers, and the school administration, that such big employers are coming to your schools to recognize your talent.
This opportunity gives you a chance to collaborate with those companies and learn from the industry. And the success of this employment fair today is a testimony of the fact that the children of our government schools will no longer look for jobs, but jobs will look for our children.
