4.7-magnitude earthquake hits Tokyo, Japan

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7 jolted the Tokyo metropolitan area this morning. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that the temblor struck at 01:47 a.m. local time, affecting Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba Prefecture.
The epicenter was located in Tokyo’s 23 wards at a depth of 120 km, with coordinates at a latitude of 35.7 degrees north and a longitude of 139.6 degrees east. While central Tokyo felt the tremors strongly, no tsunami warnings were issued, and there have been no reports of damage or casualties.
