NEW DELHI, July 6 : Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has made startling revelations regarding the recent arrest of her husband by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). She has accused NDA MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy of fabricating statements under pressure from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to protect his son, who was in custody. Sunita Kejriwal stated that Magunta Reddy initially disclosed meeting CM Kejriwal in a public setting on March 16, 2021, during discussions about setting up a charitable trust in Delhi. She questioned the credibility of later statements implicating bribery, given the public nature of their purported meeting.
Addressing the people of Delhi via a video message, Sunita Kejriwal emphasized that Magunta Reddy changed his statement under duress after ED arrested his son, Raghav Magunta Reddy. She alleged that subsequent statements alleging bribery were coerced and aimed at securing Raghav’s release from custody. Sunita Kejriwal highlighted inconsistencies in Magunta Reddy’s claims, noting the improbability of soliciting funds in a first-time meeting attended by multiple witnesses.
Furthermore, she underscored the judicial scrutiny of these statements, citing the court’s observation that bail was granted based on weak evidence—a move described as granting a “lollipop of bail” to the accused. Sunita Kejriwal portrayed her husband as a victim of malicious political tactics, urging public support for his integrity and the AAP’s principles.
“If the people of Delhi do not stand with Arvind Kejriwal today, then the future of honest and educated individuals in Indian politics is at stake,” she declared.
