Delhi Shaken by Earthquake, Police Releases Emergency Contact Number

New Delhi: A massive earthquake struck Delhi-NCR this morning, sending tremors across the region and causing panic among residents. Following the seismic activity, the Delhi Police swiftly issued an emergency helpline number to assist citizens in distress. In a social media post, the police urged people to remain calm and contact emergency services at 112 in case of any urgent situation.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake originated at a significant depth, with tremors felt in several parts of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and surrounding areas. While there were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties, the sudden tremors led to temporary evacuations in high-rise buildings, offices, and schools across the region.

Residents reported feeling strong shaking for several seconds, with many rushing out of their homes and workplaces in fear. Social media was flooded with videos and images of people gathering in open spaces as a precautionary measure. Some users also reported minor structural damage to buildings, particularly in older constructions.

The Delhi Police, in coordination with disaster management teams and local authorities, is closely monitoring the situation. They have advised residents to follow safety guidelines, stay away from weak structures, and remain indoors if they are in a secure location.

We request all residents to stay calm and contact 112 for any emergency assistance. Our teams are on high alert, and we are coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure public safety,” the Delhi Police stated in their advisory.

Authorities have also urged people to rely on official sources for updates and avoid spreading rumors or misinformation. In the wake of the tremors, disaster response teams have been deployed to assess any potential damage and provide necessary support to affected areas.

Seismologists have advised residents to be prepared for possible aftershocks, which are common after a significant earthquake. Safety measures such as securing heavy furniture, identifying safe spots in homes, and keeping emergency kits ready have been recommended.

As the region recovers from the shock, officials continue to assess the impact and provide assistance where needed.
