Punjab Police Strikes Against Terrorism, 4 Arrested in Major Operation

Punjab : Punjab Police carried out a significant crackdown on organized crime by arresting four operatives linked to USA and Canada-based terrorist and gangster networks in two separate operations conducted last evening. The successful operation was led by the intelligence wing of the Punjab Police, which had been tracking the movements of these individuals for some time. The arrests mark another major step in the ongoing efforts to curb the influence of foreign-backed criminal networks operating within the state.

According to Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav, the first operation was carried out in Tarn Taran, where a police team, acting on specific intelligence inputs, attempted to apprehend two suspects. However, as the police approached, the operatives opened fire in an attempt to escape. This led to a brief encounter, during which the police successfully overpowered and arrested both individuals. Their arrest was a crucial breakthrough, as their interrogation provided leads that resulted in the capture of two more gang members associated with the same network.

The investigation revealed that the arrested individuals were deeply involved in organized crime, including extortion and targeted violence. They had been responsible for an extortion and firing incident in Gurdaspur last year, which had raised concerns over rising criminal activities linked to international terror outfits. With growing evidence of foreign-based operatives orchestrating crimes in Punjab, law enforcement agencies have been intensifying their efforts to track and dismantle these networks. The arrested operatives were found in possession of a substantial cache of weapons and explosives, including four hand grenades and three pistols with bullets. These recoveries indicate the dangerous nature of their activities and the extent of the threat they posed to public safety.

In recent years, there has been a surge in cases where criminals with links to foreign-based terrorist organizations have attempted to create unrest in Punjab. Many of these elements receive financial and logistical support from handlers abroad, making it a challenging task for security forces to combat their operations. However, the Punjab Police, in coordination with central intelligence agencies, has been actively pursuing such elements and preventing potential security threats.
