Dedicating the Rs 5 crore ‘Nishan-e-Inqlab’ Plaza on Airport Road here, where a 30 feet high bronze statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh has been installed, the Chief Minister said that this great martyr can only be remembered by his martyrdom. It should not be remembered only on the day (March 23) or birthday (September 28), but every moment. He said that this plaza will always inspire our young generations to follow in the footsteps of the great martyr and serve the country. Bhagwant Mann expressed the hope that this plaza will prove to be a guide for the travelers coming from the country and abroad by making them aware of the contribution of this great martyr.
The Chief Minister said that due to the tireless efforts of the state government, Mohali Airport has been named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He said that none of the previous governments tried to name this airport in the name of the great martyr, but after assuming office, his government gave it top priority. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that naming airports, universities and other institutions after these great martyrs is necessary to preserve their glorious legacy.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is leaving no stone unturned to realize the dreams of great martyrs. He said that it is the duty of the state government to ensure the development of Punjab and the prosperity of the people in accordance with the dreams of great patriots. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the day is not far when Punjab will soon emerge as a leading state across the country with the concerted efforts of the state government.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is ensuring that no youth of the state goes abroad in search of employment so that the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh can be fulfilled. He said that the state government has provided nearly 50,000 jobs to the youth in a transparent manner and no stone will be left unturned for this. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab government has started repatriation (reverse migration) in the state.
The Chief Minister said, “At an age when the youth demands gifts from their parents, Shaheed Bhagat Singh demanded the freedom of his motherland from the British.” Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was an educated leader, who was always concerned for the welfare of the people.
The Chief Minister said that the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam are still unfulfilled as corruption, nepotism and poverty are still rampant. He called upon people to rise above the discrimination of caste, sectarianism and religion to make India the number one country. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it will be a true tribute to martyr Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the sake of motherland.
The Chief Minister said that the great sacrifice of martyr Bhagat Singh will inspire the youth to serve the country. He said that apart from freeing the country, Shaheed Bhagat Singh also dreamed of corruption and poverty free India. Bhagwant Singh Mann inspired the youth to take a pledge that they will follow the footsteps of martyr Bhagat Singh and serve the state.
