Gunfight Erupts During Search Operation in Rajouri District of J&K

Jammu and Kashmir : In Jammu and Kashmir, an intense encounter occurred between security forces and terrorists last night in Rajouri district, following a cordon and search operation initiated to address suspected militant activity. The operation focused on the Kheri Mohra Lathi-Dhanthal area in Khawas tehsil, where security forces believe two to three terrorists are currently entrenched. To reinforce the operation, additional troops have been dispatched to the region.

The search operation in Rajouri district was part of a broader strategy to counter militant threats in the area. This escalation follows an earlier incident on Monday, where Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in Meira-Nagrota village observed two unidentified individuals near a residence. The VDGs fired warning shots into the air, prompting a comprehensive search operation by security forces. The ongoing searches are aimed at locating the suspects and ensuring the safety of local residents.

In a separate but related development, security forces have made significant strides in Poonch district. During a search operation in a forested area, they discovered a hideout and recovered a cache of weapons, including six hand grenades, from a natural cave located in the Dachi Top Sheendra area. This find highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces to uncover and neutralize militant resources in the region.

The encounters and search operations in Jammu and Kashmir reflect the persistent challenges faced by security forces in countering militant activities. The operations underscore the need for continued vigilance and effective strategies to address the complex security situation in the region. Further details on the progress of these operations and their impact on local security dynamics are anticipated.
