Union Minister Manohar Lal Lauds Sikh Community’s Contributions to Nation-Building

Praises Olympic Medalists from Haryana and Urges Continued Participation in Nation’s Development

New Delhi, July 31 2024: Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal, highlighted the invaluable contributions of the Sikh community to the nation’s development during a program held at the Belle La Monte Resort in New Delhi. Addressing Sikh industrialists from across Haryana, the Minister underscored the community’s role in bolstering the country’s economy and defending its borders.

Sh. Manohar Lal particularly commended athletes Manu Bhaker from Jhajjar and Sarabjot Singh from Ambala for bringing pride to the nation and Haryana by winning medals at the Paris Olympics. He encouraged the Sikh community to continue their participation in various fields to aid the country’s and state’s advancement.

Dr. Prabhleen Singh, OSD to the Haryana government, was also present at the event.

The Union Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s respect for the Sikh community, noting the organization of the 400th Prakash Purab under the Haryana government’s auspices. He highlighted efforts to honor Baba Banda Singh Bahadur by developing Lohgarh, his capital, as a historical and tourist site to inspire future generations.

 

Reflecting on his tenure as Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh. Manohar Lal shared his commitment to administrative reforms and development projects, including significant infrastructure improvements in Gurugram. He mentioned the construction of Rajiv Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, and Dwarka Expressway, which have alleviated traffic congestion. The Minister also announced metro expansion plans connecting sectors 22-23 to the City Center.

Former MP Sardar Trilochan Singh welcomed Sh. Manohar Lal and acknowledged the Sikh community’s historical contributions to national development. He expressed appreciation for the Minister’s previous tenure as Chief Minister and his current role as Union Minister. Singh thanked him for allocating 40 acres of land to the Gurudwara in Sirsa and organizing an event in Panipat.

The event featured addresses from prominent figures including Dr. Jaspal Singh, Sardar Talvir Chaddha, and Guruwant Singh Manchanda. A documentary showcasing Sh. Manohar Lal’s work as Chief Minister was also screened. The program was conducted by Dr. Prabhleen Singh, who also extended the vote of thanks.

Key attendees included Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Chairman of Belmonde Group; Dr. Jaspal Singh, former Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala; Dr. Jagdeep Singh Chaddha of Sigma Group; Ranbir Singh Johar of Jamuna Autos; Sardar Satinder Singh Banga of Victora Group; Sardar Harshit Singh Kochar of Vijhon Group, and other Sikh industrialists and businessmen from Haryana.
