Ranchi, July 20, 2024 : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday highlighted the critical importance of the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, emphasizing their role in safeguarding the rights of tribals and Hindus. Speaking at an extended BJP committee meeting in Ranchi, Sarma raised concerns about changing demographics in Jharkhand due to Bangladeshi infiltration.
As BJP’s election co-incharge for Jharkhand, Sarma addressed party workers, alleging that Bangladeshi infiltrators are increasingly targeting Jharkhand after Assam and West Bengal. “There are districts where the population of Muslim infiltrators has reached 30 percent,” he warned. He further claimed that the Muslim population in Assam now stands at 40 percent, with only 4 percent being indigenous Muslims. Sarma also pointed out the rapid increase of the Muslim population in neighboring West Bengal.
The Chief Minister accused infiltrators of marrying tribal girls in Jharkhand to acquire land and criticized the state government for its passive approach to the issue. He cited incidents of Palestinian flags being hoisted during Muharram processions in Jharkhand as indicative of the administration’s lack of action.
Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming elections, Sarma pledged that the party would take strict measures to address these concerns if it forms the next government in Jharkhand.
