New Delhi, July 20, 2024 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of a sinister plot to endanger the life of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Senior AAP leaders have condemned recent comments made by Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V.K. Saxena regarding the CM’s health, labeling them as unfortunate and ill-informed.
AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the LG’s remarks on social media, questioning the rationale behind them. “What kind of joke are you making, LG Sir? Would a man deliberately reduce his sugar levels at night? This is very dangerous. LG Sir, if you do not understand the disease, you should not write such letters,” Singh wrote on his ‘X’ handle, formerly known as Twitter.
Delhi Minister Atishi raised concerns about the severe health risks faced by CM Kejriwal, who has been a diabetic for 30 years. She revealed that Kejriwal’s sugar levels have dangerously dipped below 50 on more than eight occasions, putting him at risk of coma and brain stroke. Atishi accused the BJP of using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to arrest Kejriwal, anticipating his bail from the Supreme Court, knowing that his health would deteriorate in jail.
“The statement from the LG is very unfortunate and does not befit the constitutional head of the state,” Atishi stated. “Arvind Kejriwal has been suffering from acute diabetes for 30 years. When someone has serious diabetes, hypoglycemia or falling sugar levels is a very dangerous sign. It can lead to coma, brain stroke, and permanent brain damage.”
She further claimed that the BJP’s actions were calculated, aiming to exacerbate Kejriwal’s health issues. “The BJP knew that Arvind Kejriwal would get bail from the Supreme Court, which is why they forcefully got him arrested by the CBI. They know that the longer he stays in jail, the more his health will deteriorate,” Atishi added. “I would like to request LG Sahab to refrain from making such comments about anyone’s health.”
The AAP’s accusations have added a new dimension to the ongoing political tensions in Delhi, with the party alleging a deliberate conspiracy against their leader amid his health struggles.
