Raipur, June 18:Chhattisgarh Cabinet under the chair of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai collectively took landmark decisions to give pace to implementation of central and state government public welfare schemes including approval of Financial Assistance for Solar Rooftop Installations, Tiger Conservation, and others.
While briefing the media on Vishnu Deo Cabinet decision on Wednesday in Raipur at his official residence Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said, Chhattisgarh Cabinet has approved state financial assistance for the installation of solar rooftop plants under the Pradhanmantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce electricity bills for domestic consumers while promoting sustainable energy use across the state. The beneficiaries will get assistance from Central and State government through subsidies.
1 KW solar plants will receive Rs 45,000 in total assistance (Rs 30,000 from the Centre and Rs 15,000 from the state). 3 KW and above installations will get Rs 1,08,000 (Rs 78,000 central and Rs 30,000 state support). Similar benefits will be extended to housing societies and residential welfare associations.
The state has set targets to install 60,000 solar power plants in 2025–26 and 70,000 in 2026–27, with projected expenditures of Rs 180 crore and Rs 210 crore respectively.
In order to boost tiger population and eco-tourism in the state, Chhattisgarh Tiger Foundation Society will be Formed under the Wildlife Protection Act, 197.Promote eco-tourism with local community participation will be ensured, he said.
Other major decisions of the cabinet are – The Vivekanand Institute of Social Health Welfare and Services will be merged with the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Narayanpur for better operational efficiency.
New Horticulture College: 100 acres of land in Belgaum, Bemetara district will be allocated free of cost for establishing a Horticulture College under a proposed university.
JashPure Brand Promotion: The Cabinet approved transferring the ‘JashPure’ brand, known for tribal women’s herbal and Mahua tea products, to the State Government or CSIDC. The move aims to scale up agro and food processing units and generate tribal employment without financial cost to the state.
The cabinet also approved Compassionate Appointments Reform which includes amendment in the police personnel law for Martyred policemen, Clause 13(3) of the Integrated Revised Instructions-2013. As per the new provisions. Eligible family members can now secure compassionate appointments in any government department, not just in the deceased’s department or location.
The Cabinet approved the formation of SMET for the exploration and infrastructure development of minor minerals.
Students from the Dihari Korwa, Baghel Kshatriya, Sansari Oraon, and Pabiya communities—currently outside SC/ST categories—will receive state scholarships equivalent to Scheduled Tribes. Meanwhile, Domra community students will get benefits equivalent to Scheduled Castes, the Minister said.
