London, June 14 – India’s red-ball squad has begun its Test season preparations in London with a blend of composure, discipline, and clarity of purpose. In their ongoing warm-up fixture, the team—led by skipper Shubman Gill—showed signs of measured intensity, as players coming off various formats regrouped with focus and familiarity.

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna captured the team’s mindset, stating, “I think all of us are experienced enough to know when it’s time to focus and when to relax. That awareness is what keeps us sharp and ready.” Speaking about the value of red-ball rhythm, Krishna stressed the importance of time on the field: “Some guys are coming off the A match, so just getting time on your feet is key.” He praised the competitive spirit within the camp, noting how intra-squad competition elevated individual performance: “When you’re competing against your own teammates, it lifts everyone’s level.”

The camaraderie in the dressing room, Krishna added, remains a strong binding force. “We’ve all played together before. You can’t be locked in all the time, especially when you’re not in the middle. So we’re making sure to enjoy each other’s company, while staying ready to switch on when needed.”

Captain Shubman Gill echoed a similar tone, urging the squad to stay consistent and disciplined. “Let’s maintain our intensity,” he told teammates. “When we’re building as a group, let’s make sure we focus on the key areas — whether it’s as a bowling unit or batting unit.”

As the Indian Test side builds towards a packed red-ball calendar, the emphasis is clearly not just on skills but on a grounded, mindful approach—one that blends competitiveness with camaraderie, and focus with flexibility.
