New Delhi, July 25, 2025:The three-day Teej Mahotsav 2025, organized by the Delhi Government, was inaugurated today at Delhi Haat, Pitampura in the gracious presence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister of Art, Culture, Language and Tourism, Kapil Mishra. The festival, scheduled from July 25 to 27, has emerged as a vibrant celebration of Delhi’s cultural identity, women’s participation, and folk traditions.

Women Members of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Rajasthan also graced the occasion. Expressing her gratitude, the Chief Minister said, “The Parliament is in session, and yet my MP sisters have come here to be a part of this celebration — this is truly heartwarming.”
The CM added that the presence of the Women’s Wing and her fellow Parliamentarians has added a new charm to the event organized by the Department of Tourism.

“This year, we envisioned a grand and memorable celebration of Teej. And with Kapil Mishra’s support and vision, that dream has come true. Witnessing the excitement of my sisters and the event preparations here makes it clear — the celebration is exactly how we imagined it. Even the weather has supported us; it hasn’t rained today,” she remarked.
The venue is adorned with colorful stalls, delicious snacks like chaat and pakoras, and melodious music. The CM urged all women to participate and enjoy the festivities over all three days, saying, “When it’s time for joy, nothing can stop my sisters — neither cold nor heat. Their energy lights up the entire event.”

In her inaugural address, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta emphasized that Teej is not just a traditional festival, but a vibrant expression of women’s dignity, community participation, and cultural heritage. She encouraged the women of Delhi to take part enthusiastically and turn this event into a cultural movement.
On the occasion, Minister Kapil Mishra stated that the festival is not merely a cultural celebration, but also a tribute to creativity, entrepreneurship, and collective pride. He announced that the entire event is free of cost so that women from all sections of society can participate. He further added that Delhi is moving beyond being just an administrative capital — it is evolving into a cultural capital, and events like this are strong testimony to that transformation.

Over 100 stalls have been set up as part of the festival, with 80 dedicated to traditional handicrafts and handloom products, and 25 stalls showcasing the diverse cuisines from various states. Special discounts are being offered at stalls run by women entrepreneurs, promoting women’s self-reliance.
To blend tradition with modern vibrance, the festival features mehendi competitions, bindi decoration, rangoli, selfie points, traditional swings, and a dedicated Kids Zone. The Kids Zone includes storytelling sessions, magic shows, and creative games to ensure the whole family can enjoy the festivities.
Additionally, Teej Quiz and Slogan Writing competitions are being organized with cash prizes of ₹3000 for first place, ₹2000 for second, and ₹1500 for third. These competitions aim to encourage creative participation from women and youth.

To extend the festival’s reach, promotional efforts are also being made through digital platforms like BookMyShow and popular female social media influencers, helping to highlight Delhi’s cultural vibrancy in the digital space.
To ensure meticulous preparation, Minister Kapil Mishra convened several meetings at the Delhi Secretariat involving BJP Mahila Morcha, women’s organizations, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), and various social workers. These discussions brought forth several creative suggestions to make the festival more inclusive, accessible, and engaging.
In conclusion, Minister Kapil Mishra said that the Teej Mahotsav is dedicated to the women of Delhi, their cultural consciousness, and collective energy. The event not only preserves tradition but also takes a firm step toward establishing Delhi as the cultural capital of India.
