Municipal Corporation to Develop Pet (Dog) Park in Faridabad: Commissioner A. Mona Srinivas

Faridabad :The Animal Birth Control (ABC) program, run by People for Animals Trust Faridabad in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, has successfully conducted around 2,000 sterilization surgeries in recent months. This initiative is helping in the humane control of the stray dog population and the eradication of rabies in the city.

Municipal Commissioner A. Mona Srinivas said that the NGO is capturing stray dogs from different zones based on public complaints and conducting their sterilization, rabies vaccination, and post-operative care. This well-organized process has led to increased public trust in the Municipal Corporation and raised awareness about the importance of sterilization.

The impact of this program is not limited to animal welfare; it has also become a knowledge hub for veterinary science. Veterinarians from Haryana and neighboring states are now visiting this unit to learn about sterilization procedures and protocols.

“Earlier, veterinarians had to travel outside the city for advanced training, but now our unit is attracting them here. Leading veterinarians like Dr. Daksh Verma are working at this unit,” said the Commissioner.

The success of this program has been made possible due to the dedicated efforts of Municipal Commissioner A. Mona Srinivas and other committed officials who are prioritizing public health and animal welfare.

“The leadership and vision of MCF officials have played a crucial role in making this robust system possible, emphasizing animal welfare and public health,” said officials. This initiative has been assigned to Ms. Vrinda, head of People for Animals Trust Faridabad, who is efficiently managing the program.

MCF is working on expanding the capacity of this program to further strengthen the sterilization drive. Additionally, discussions are underway to develop Faridabad’s first-ever dog park. This park will feature walking tracks, a play area, special swings for pet dogs, and other attractive amenities. The initiative aims to provide a safe and organized space for pets, where owners can ensure proper exercise and socialization for their dogs.

This project will also promote community participation in animal welfare, fostering an inclusive and responsible pet-friendly environment in the city.
