Faridabad , 29 November , 2024 – Under the RDSS scheme of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) program on “Techno Commercial Improvements to Strengthen the Financial Position of Discom” was started at the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) Corporate Office, Sector-33, to reduce the Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses of the power distribution companies of the country. Under this, the skills of Discom employees at the junior level in the states of the country can be improved. The programme was inaugurated in the august presence of Dr. Mohammad Rehan, Director General, NISE, Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General, NPTI, Mrs. Madhubala Kumar, Director (Administration), NPTI-Faridabad, Sanjesh Kumar, DGM (HR), PFC, NR Halder, Director (RDSS), NPTI Faridabad along with other senior Directors and Programme Coordinators of NPTI.
In collaboration with Power Finance Corporation (PFC), this phase of the ToT programme is being worked on Junior Management. More than 150 participants are attending the Training of Trainers (ToT) in both offline and online mode.
During the program, NPTI Director General Dr. Tripta Thakur specially addressed the press conference and informed that National Power Training Institute (NPTI) under the guidance of Power Finance Corporation (PFC) had trained about 9000 Discom officers in the first phase and has been further entrusted with the task of training twenty thousand “junior management level” employees of Discoms across India.
The second phase of training started in July 2024 with the Training of Trainers program on “Operational Safety and Disaster Management”, in which 166 trainers were trained, who have been used to provide further training to Discom employees below Junior Engineer level and about 500 Discom employees have been trained so far.
The aim of the training program is to equip the “junior staff” of DISCOM with the necessary skills and competencies, which will help them to better perform their responsibilities in areas such as advanced metering infrastructure, reduction in AT&C loss, increase in distribution network efficiency, reduction in failure of electrical assets, reduction in power theft, security and disaster management, communication and soft skills and achieve a higher level of consumer satisfaction.
Training will be given to make PM-Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme a success:-
National Power Training Institute (NPTI) Corporate Office Sector-33 Faridabad and 10 NPTI institutes located in different states of the country including Shivpuri, Guwahati, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Nangal, Alappuzha, Neyveli, Durgapur and New Delhi are running ‘Grid Connected Rooftop Solar System’ trainers training programs to make PM-Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme a success. Under this program, NPTI will train 400 trainers with knowledge and skills across the country, who will later train 25000 Discom employees across the country.
Director General Dr. Tripta Thakur said that for hundreds of years the whole world is dependent on fossil fuels like coal, petrol and diesel. Due to which the temperature is continuously increasing and the climate is changing. In such a situation, if the sources of energy are not changed soon, the climate will change completely. We have to promote and adopt solar energy, biomass and geothermal energy soon. India has also committed to add 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Earn money by selling stubble, not by burning it:-
The aim of Samarth Mission sponsored by the Government of India is to free the environment from pollution caused by burning stubble and at the same time to generate income by farmers by not burning stubble in the field and by selling it. In this context, Samarth Mission has launched an awareness campaign across India which is being successfully carried out by the National Power Training Institute (NPTI).
MBA Programmes:-
NPTI conducts various Industry Interface Programmes with the flagship MBA Programme in Power Management. All these Industry Interface Programmes aim to create a pool of committed and competent professionals equipped with appropriate technical skills to advance the Indian power sector.
PGDC and PDC Programmes:-
PGDCs range from six months to one year. PGDC programmes include specialization in Power Plant Engineering, RE and Grid Interface Technologies, Hydro Power Plant Engineering, T&D Systems, Cyber Security, Power Distribution and Emerging Technologies etc. and Post Diploma Courses in Thermal Power Engineering, Hydro Power Plant Engineering etc.
PGDC Renewable Energy and Grid Interface Technologies:-
PGDC combines technical and managerial thinking with practical exposure in renewable energy and grid interface technologies. This 1 year Diploma course is being offered at NPTI Badarpur, Shivapuri, Naveli and Alappuzha.
