New Delhi, June 24,2024: – India has experienced a notable 15% annual growth in passport and related services, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) providing 1.65 crore passport-related services to citizens in 2023. This announcement was made by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday.
In his message on Passport Seva Divas, Jaishankar emphasized the significant role of advanced technologies in enhancing the citizen experience. He highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in expanding its service network, which now includes 440 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) and 93 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs). This brings the total number of passport application processing centers to 533, managed under 37 Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) across the country.
Jaishankar praised the passport delivery program as one of the most successful and well-regarded models of efficient service delivery by the Government of India.
The MEA celebrated the 12th Passport Seva Divas on June 24, marking the enactment of the Passports Act on June 24, 1967. This year’s celebration included a three-day Regional Passport Officers Conference held from June 22-24 in Delhi.
