31st Batch of Foundation Course Concludes at NPTI, 127 Newly Appointed Officers Awarded Certificates

Energy sector is growing rapidly, be prepared for the challenges: Sh. Praveen Gupta

Faridabad : The closing ceremony of the 31st batch of the mandatory Foundation Course was held at the Ministry of Power’s National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Sector-33, Faridabad. On this occasion, certificates were awarded to 127 newly appointed officers from SJVN Limited, NHPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation (PFC), and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), all under the Ministry of Power.

Mr. Praveen Gupta, Member (Thermal), Central Electricity Authority (CEA), attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. He was welcomed by Mr. Hemant Jain, Member (Grid Operation and Distribution) and Director General, NPTI, with a plant sapling.

During the 21-day training programme, participants took part in several sports competitions including cricket, badminton, chess, and volleyball, and winners were felicitated with trophies.

In her inaugural address, Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director (Training), said that today’s world is driven by a rapidly evolving technological environment, changing market dynamics, and the growing need for sustainable energy solutions. In such a scenario, the role of young professionals becomes extremely important, as the future direction and success of organizations will largely depend on them.

Dr. Vatsala Sharma, Director (Training), presented the vote of thanks to the chief guests, officers, staff members, and participants. The programme was coordinated by Dr. K.P.S. Parmar, Dr. Mahendra Singh, Rahul Pandey, and Anurag Rai.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. Praveen Gupta said that the country’s power sector is expanding rapidly and that public sector undertakings play a vital role in this growth. He noted that organizations such as NHPC, DVC, SJVNL, PFC, NTPC, and REC form the backbone of India’s energy sector, and having such a large number of PSUs under one ministry is unique.

He advised participants to develop a holistic understanding of generation, transmission, and distribution and prepare themselves to face emerging challenges in the energy sector.

Speaking on the occasion, NPTI Director General Mr. Hemant Jain said that the three-week training programme was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the technical, regulatory, and financial aspects of the power sector. He added that transparency, accountability, and ethical values are the key pillars of professional success.
