New Delhi, October 2, 2025 – Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has said that Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence remain a timeless source of inspiration for the world. Addressing an interfaith prayer meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Gandhi Jayanti, he stressed the need to imbibe Gandhiji’s ideals in daily life, especially at a time when the world is facing conflict, unrest, and injustice.
Chouhan observed that the present global scenario—where even trade has been weaponised—reflects the urgency of Gandhi’s teachings. “In such darkness, one feels like saying, ‘Bapu, if possible, please come back again,’” he remarked.
Paying homage, he highlighted that Gandhi’s campaigns never suffered for want of resources, as people voluntarily contributed funds and support. He urged today’s welfare organisations to follow the same example, ensuring impartiality by reducing dependence on government aid and drawing strength from community participation.
The meeting was attended by Gandhi Bhavan Trust treasurer and senior journalist Rajesh Badal, secretary Dayaram Namdev, Gandhian thinker Raghu Thakur, and eminent writer-journalist Vijayadutt Shridhar.
