Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to inaugurate three-day Vasant Utsav-2026 in Panchkula on March 13

PMDA, CEO K. Makrand Pandurang reviews preparations, issues directions to officials

Chandigarh, March 11: Panchkula is all set to host the vibrant Vasant Utsav-2026, a three-day festival celebrating the arrival of spring, from March 13 to 15 at the Sector-5 Town Park. CM Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the festival as the chief guest on March 13, while the closing ceremony on March 15 will be attended by the Chief Secretary as the chief guest.

Preparations for the event were reviewed on Wednesday by K. Makrand Pandurang, Chief Executive Officer of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority, during a meeting with officials of various departments held through video conferencing. Satpal Sharma also attended the meeting.

During the review, Pandurang directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements and maximum public participation in the festival. The Additional Chief Executive Officer of PMDA has been appointed as the nodal officer for coordinating the event.

He instructed the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran and the Municipal Corporation Panchkula to maintain proper cleanliness at the venue and surrounding areas. The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has been asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival. The Public Health Engineering Department and the Municipal Corporation will arrange adequate mobile toilets, while the police department will deploy sufficient personnel to maintain law and order and manage parking. The Food Safety Officer will monitor the quality of food at the stalls.

Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, speaking from the Mini Secretariat in Sector-1 via video conferencing, assured full cooperation of the district administration for the successful conduct of the festival.

A variety of competitions and activities will be organised throughout the three days of the festival. On March 13, competitions such as rangoli, painting, face painting, textile cartography, tattoo painting and an environmental quiz will be held.

The second day, March 14, will feature a mehndi competition, mono acting, hasya kavi sammelan, fancy dress competition and a duet dance competition.

On the final day, March 15, activities including a baby show, fashion show, pot painting, best out of waste competition, selfie contest, solo singing and folk dance competition will be organised. Cultural evenings will be held on all three days, and winners of the competitions will be honoured and rewarded.

Vasant Utsav-2026 will mark the arrival of the spring season with a vibrant blend of cultural programmes, artistic performances, floral displays, heritage evenings, craft exhibitions and culinary experiences. Pandurang said the festival aims to showcase Haryana’s rich traditions, evolving cultural spirit and the joy of the spring season.

Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Vinay Kumar, Chief Engineer PMDA Rajiv Sharma and XEN (Horticulture) PMDA Nidhi Bhardwaj, along with officials from various departments, were also present in the meeting.
