IndiGo to Add 10 New International Routes, Confirms CEO Pieter Elbers

New Delhi, May 30 — IndiGo, India’s largest airline, is set to add 10 new international destinations over the next year as part of its global expansion strategy, taking its international network to over 50 destinations.

Speaking to the media on Friday, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers announced that starting in July, the airline will introduce non-stop flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam. With the expansion of its damp-leased Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet expected later this year, the airline also plans to add long-haul routes to London and Copenhagen.

“We are committed to strengthening our international presence, and these new connections will provide enhanced options for Indian travellers,” Elbers said.

IndiGo is also eyeing further growth in Europe, with direct connectivity to Athens in the pipeline. In Central Asia, the airline plans to add four new destinations and resume non-stop services from Mumbai to Almaty and Tashkent. Tbilisi will also see increased capacity through direct flights from Mumbai.

On the domestic front, IndiGo aims to expand its network from 91 to 95 destinations. Notably, the airline will commence operations to and from Adampur airport in Jalandhar starting July 1.

Commenting on the airline’s rapid growth, Elbers stated that IndiGo is inducting one new aircraft into its fleet every week and is on track to reach a fleet size of 600 aircraft by 2030.

He also confirmed that IndiGo has signed an agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways for the damp lease of six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Deliveries will be completed by early 2026, ahead of the expected arrival of Airbus A350s in 2027.
