Sisters who lost their sindoor in Pahalgam are still in mourning, but PM Modi is playing ‘Sindoor ka Saudagar’ at election rallies: Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, May 23, 2025 — The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly turning Operation Sindoor—an ongoing anti-terror mission—into a self-promotional exercise. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the Prime Minister of exploiting the tragedy for political gain, while families of the victims in Pahalgam continue to mourn and the terrorists remain at large.

Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters on Friday, Sanjay Singh remarked, “While the families of women who lost their sindoor in Pahalgam are still grieving and the terrorists responsible are yet to be caught, Prime Minister Modi is busy branding himself as ‘Sindoor ka Saudagar’ and even printing his image on railway tickets.”

Singh drew an analogy to a popular film, saying, “Long ago, a film called ‘Saudagar’ was released. Now, PM Modi has made himself the hero, villain, and comedian of a new film called ‘Sindoor ke Saudagar’.” He criticized the Prime Minister’s remarks at a recent rally, where Modi claimed that “hot sindoor flows through his veins,” calling it insensitive given the ongoing tragedy in Pahalgam.

The AAP leader also questioned Modi’s role in the military, sarcastically asking whether the Prime Minister is a Colonel, Brigadier, or Chief of the Army, accusing him of focusing more on political marketing than on national security.

Singh further highlighted that Operation Sindoor is still underway and the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack have not been apprehended. Despite this, Modi has already initiated a publicity campaign by printing his photograph on railway tickets associated with the operation.

Criticizing Modi’s priorities, Singh noted that while 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack and the nation mourned, Modi chose to campaign in Bihar rather than attend the all-party meeting on the operation. He pointed out that the Prime Minister has been busy with rallies, inaugurations, and events across the country instead of focusing on the mission.

Singh also questioned Modi’s decision to halt military action to seize Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and support Balochistan’s separation, citing claims by former US President Donald Trump that he threatened to cut off trade to end the conflict. Singh demanded to know whether Modi made this decision under US pressure and why he has not denied Trump’s statements.

“Will the future of India’s self-respect, dignity, and sovereignty be decided by the United States?” Singh asked, emphasizing India’s stature as the world’s largest democracy and the fifth-largest economy, questioning why Modi has remained silent on these issues.

He accused Modi of using the tragedy for electoral gains, saying, “Modi is touring the country, asking for votes by invoking the pain of our sisters in Pahalgam. Whether in Bihar, Bengal, or elsewhere, all he wants is one vote.”

Singh concluded with an appeal to the public: “Do not forget the sindoor wiped from our sisters’ foreheads in Pahalgam. Do not forget Modi’s missed opportunity to reclaim PoK and support Balochistan’s independence to avoid a trade fallout. This betrayal must not be forgotten.”

He urged citizens not to fall for what he called “drama, farce, and political theatrics,” criticizing the government’s decision to promote Operation Sindoor on railway tickets while the mission is incomplete. “This is shameful, and the public sees it clearly. Modi will do anything for elections — without shame, modesty, or remorse,” Singh stated.
