Patna : Patna is all set to witness a spectacular aerial display as the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team begins a two-day air show over the Ganga River. The event is being organized to mark Vijayotsav, a tribute to Babu Kunwar Singh, the legendary freedom fighter of the 1857 revolt from Bihar’s Bhojpur district.
The air show will take place from 10 am to 11 am on both days, with the skies over Patna serving as the canvas for the breathtaking manoeuvres of the Surya Kiran aircraft. The opening day features a full-day rehearsal session, which is open to the public, including over 40 schools from across the city. The programme aims to inspire patriotism and showcase the might and precision of the Indian Air Force.
The main event is scheduled for tomorrow, when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will formally inaugurate the celebrations. In addition to the air show, the event will feature paragliding demonstrations, cultural performances, and other activities that celebrate Bihar’s role in India’s freedom struggle.
To ensure smooth proceedings, the Patna district administration has made comprehensive arrangements for crowd management and public convenience. Spectators can view the air show from multiple vantage points along the JP Ganga Path, the scenic road running parallel to the river, which has been designated as the prime viewing area.
District Magistrate Dr. Chandra Shekhar Singh informed that special attention has been given to security arrangements in anticipation of large crowds. Law enforcement agencies have been deployed in full strength, and a detailed traffic advisory has been issued for both days to minimize congestion in and around the air show venue and adjacent areas. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities and follow traffic guidelines for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
This vibrant event, blending history, patriotism, and aerial acrobatics, is not only a tribute to the valor of Babu Kunwar Singh but also a unique opportunity for residents and students to witness the skill and discipline of the IAF up close.
