BJP Slams Congress Over DKS’s Remarks; Congress Blames BJP for Disrupting Parliament

New Delhi : The political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress has intensified over a controversial statement made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar regarding possible changes to the Constitution to provide quotas for a specific minority group. The BJP has launched a fierce attack on the Congress, accusing the party of having a hidden agenda to alter the Constitution for political gain.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, BJP spokesperson and Member of Parliament Sambit Patra strongly condemned Shivakumar’s remarks, stating that they were not just personal opinions but reflected the broader ideology of the Congress party and its leadership, including the Gandhi family. He alleged that Congress has a history of playing vote-bank politics and is now openly advocating for changes in the constitutional framework to appease certain sections of society.

Patra further claimed that such statements undermine the integrity of the Constitution and are an attempt to create divisions in society. He challenged the Congress party to clarify its stance on the matter and demanded that senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, state their position on Shivakumar’s remarks.

Meanwhile, the Congress has hit back at the BJP, accusing it of deliberately stalling parliamentary proceedings to avoid discussions on key issues. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari alleged that the ruling party was creating unnecessary disruptions in Parliament to push through important legislations without proper debate. He criticized the government for using the “guillotine” procedure to pass demands for grants of various ministries without detailed discussions, calling it an undemocratic move.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also expressed his disappointment, stating that it was the responsibility of the ruling party to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament. Instead, he argued, the BJP had chosen to disrupt proceedings, which he saw as a deliberate tactic to evade accountability and avoid answering tough questions from the opposition.

The ongoing confrontation between the BJP and Congress has further deepened the political divide, with both parties refusing to back down.
