Himachal CM Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Meets Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi

New Delhi 20,March,2025: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi today to discuss key financial matters related to the state. The meeting focused on strengthening economic policies, enhancing financial aid, and accelerating ongoing development projects in Himachal Pradesh.

Key Agendas Discussed

During the discussion, CM Sukhu highlighted the state’s financial requirements, emphasizing the need for special assistance from the central government to support infrastructure projects, disaster management efforts, and sustainable economic development.

The Himachal CM sought financial aid for sectors like:
✅ Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation – Addressing damages caused by recent natural calamities.

The Chief Minister urged the Union Finance Minister to consider additional budgetary allocations and special financial packages for Himachal Pradesh, given the state’s unique geographical challenges and economic constraints.

Union Finance Minister’s Assurances

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman acknowledged the concerns raised by CM Sukhu and assured the Centre’s support for the state’s financial stability. She appreciated the Himachal government’s efforts in sustainable development and suggested exploring new revenue generation models and central schemes to boost economic growth.

The Union Minister also assured that pending central funds for various projects in Himachal Pradesh would be released in a timely manner, ensuring smooth execution of key developmental initiatives.
