New Delhi Railway Station Stampede: No Additional Inquiry Planned, Says Railways Ministry

New Delhi : The Ministry of Railways has clarified that no separate inquiry is being conducted into the stampede incident at New Delhi Railway Station, apart from the ongoing investigation by a high-level committee. In an official statement, the Ministry dismissed certain media reports that claimed an inquiry was being conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The Ministry termed these reports as misleading and urged media outlets to refrain from speculation and wait for the official findings of the high-level committee.

The Ministry further stated that any relevant information that could assist in the investigation should be directly communicated to the committee members via email at pccmnr25@gmail.com and pcsc@nr.railnet.gov.in. This will ensure that all perspectives and evidence are thoroughly examined before reaching a conclusion.

A two-member high-level committee has already been established by Northern Railway to conduct a detailed probe into the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. The committee is actively gathering testimonies, with over 100 individual statements already being collected. To establish a clear sequence of events, a thorough examination will be conducted, including cross-questioning of eyewitnesses, passengers, and railway personnel.

The committee’s investigation will delve into various aspects of the incident, such as crowd management protocols, station infrastructure, the role of security personnel, and any lapses in safety measures. The final report will offer recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future and is expected to be submitted after a comprehensive review.

The Railway Ministry reassured the public that ensuring passenger safety remains a top priority. It also urged people not to believe in unverified claims circulating on social media or other platforms, as they might create unnecessary panic.

The stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which took place recently, has raised concerns about crowd control at one of the busiest railway hubs in the country. While the exact cause of the stampede is still being investigated, initial reports suggest that overcrowding and mismanagement may have played a role. The authorities are now focused on implementing measures that would prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.

As the high-level committee continues its inquiry, passengers and stakeholders are advised to rely only on official updates from the Railway Ministry.
