Faridabad: Under the able guidance of Deputy Commissioner and President of the District Red Cross Society, Faridabad, Vikram Singh, and as per the instructions of Ankur Miglani (Vice President) and Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal (General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana State Branch, Chandigarh), a five-day district-level Youth Red Cross training camp is being organized. The camp, conducted under the leadership of Secretary Bijendra Saurot, is being held in collaboration with the Higher Education Department from February 1 to February 5, 2025, at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad. A total of 100 students from 20 colleges and 20 Youth Red Cross counselors are participating in the event.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief Guest Amit Maan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Badkhal, who lit the ceremonial lamp and paid floral tributes to Sir Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross.
In his address, Chief Guest Amit Maan emphasized that the youth play a crucial role in shaping a nation’s future. A country with aware and empowered youth will always progress. He highlighted that the Red Cross Society is an international organization dedicated to health, service, and humanitarian aid, working tirelessly to assist people worldwide.
Distinguished guest Vimal Khandelwal, Patron of the Indian Red Cross Society and Member of the Haryana Youth Red Cross Subcommittee, Chandigarh, encouraged the youth to stay away from bad habits, uphold discipline, and contribute to society’s welfare. He stated that a disciplined individual always moves toward success in life.
Bijendra Saurot, Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, welcomed the chief guest and the distinguished guests while providing a detailed overview of the history of the Red Cross. He mentioned that the organization was founded in 1863 by Sir Jean Henry Dunant, who was honored with the first-ever Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. The Red Cross Society has received the Nobel Peace Prize three times for its humanitarian efforts.
Camp Director Dr. M.P. Singh introduced all participants to the structure and objectives of the training camp. He urged the youth to apply the knowledge gained in these five days and actively participate in the development of the nation as responsible citizens.
District Training Officer Purushottam Saini shared insights into the various activities conducted by the Red Cross. He also mentioned that social workers in the district are being encouraged to become lifetime members of the Red Cross and anyone can enroll as a life member
Program Coordinator of the Youth Red Cross, Gurjeet Kaur, highlighted the active participation of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, in various social activities.
Master Trainer and Spokesperson of St. John Ambulance, Faridabad, Meenu Kaushal, elaborated on the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross and urged young participants to join the organization as volunteers to contribute to public welfare initiatives.
The event saw active participation from Arvind Sharma, P.C. Gaur, Manmohan Sharma, Mandeep, Pawan, Rambaran, Sugam, and Ashok, along with the dedicated support of the institute’s staff.
