Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Advocates for Farm-to-Consumer Model

New Delhi : Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a recent interaction with farmers during the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, underscored the central government’s ongoing efforts to empower and uplift the agricultural community. He emphasized that the government’s initiatives are aimed at ensuring the prosperity of farmers across the country.

Mr. Chouhan, addressing the farmers who were specially invited for the occasion, highlighted the importance of adopting modern agricultural techniques to enhance productivity and address the challenges faced by farmers. He spoke about how technology is playing a crucial role in resolving several issues that have plagued the agricultural sector for years, from improving crop yield to providing better access to market information.

The Minister also discussed the government’s focus on promoting sustainable and profitable agricultural practices. One of the key initiatives that Mr. Chouhan advocated for is the Farm-to-Consumer Model, which aims to streamline the supply chain and benefit farmers by allowing them to directly sell their produce to consumers. This model, he explained, would significantly reduce the role of middlemen and ensure that farmers receive a fair price for their crops, maximizing their profits.

Under the Farm-to-Consumer Model, farmers would be able to eliminate the need for intermediaries, who often take a significant portion of the profits, and instead establish a direct connection with consumers. This would not only help farmers earn more from their produce but also ensure that consumers have access to fresh and high-quality produce at reasonable prices.

Mr. Chouhan also pointed out that this initiative aligns with the government’s vision of strengthening the agricultural sector by promoting transparency, reducing wastage, and empowering farmers with better access to markets. The Farm-to-Consumer Model, he stated, is expected to be a game-changer for the agricultural industry, making it more sustainable and profitable for farmers while benefiting consumers as well.
