Some states want listing of power utilities to raise funds: Manohar Lal
• Energy and Urban Development Minister Mr. AK Sharma attended the Power Ministers' Conference in New Delhi today
New Dlehi , 12 November , 2024- Uttar Pradesh Energy and Urban Development Minister Mr. AK Sharma attended the Power Ministers’ Conference in New Delhi today at India International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhumi. It was chaired by union Power Minister Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar.
During presentations made by the Power Ministry of GOI and during the deliberations, it clearly emerged that:
• UP is best performing state in the country in Revamped Distribution sector Scheme (RDSS) which is being implemented with the help of GOI since last two years. UP has mede 62% physical progress and 47% Financial progress which is highest in the country.
• Thus, UP stands at number one in the country in these infrastructure improvement and Loss reduction Works which will be completed by March-2025.
• It was also noted that UP has successfully supplied 24 hours Power to all category of consumers across the state in scorching heat of present summer season and met Max Demand of 30,618 MW on 13.06.2024 which was highest across the Country.
• In addition to this, UP also met the energy demand of 659.59 MUs on 17.06.2024 which was also highest energy demand met in the Country.
• While supplying maximum power for last two years, UP has also reduced the AT&C Losses by almost half. It has come down from 31% in 2021-22
to 22% in 2023 and now to 16.5% in 2024. This was noted as a remarkable improvement.
• UP has prepared Resource Adequacy plan till 2034 to meet the Power requirement. Increasing Power requirement will be met through a mix of thermal, hydro, solar and PSP projects.
• Maximum power will be added through a number of thermal power projects under construction and new upcoming projects at Obra-D, Anpara and Meja. Up has processed a bid for setting up big power projects in private sector.
• UP’s march in Renewable Energy is remarkable with good progress in establishing solar parks and enhancing solar energy generation.
• UP is among top three performing states in roof top solar
• It is number one in the country in CBG production.
• A system of observing Maintenance Month has been introduced twice in a year for better quality power supply. Such a drive is presently also going on.
•It was also noted that UP has also improved the financial health of its Power corporations in last two years. It is also because Billing Efficiency has improved from 80.2% in FY 2021-22 to84.5% FY2023-24.
• Similarly, Collection efficiency has improved from 85.9% in FY2021-22 to 98.7% FY2023-24. Thru rate (Rs/unit) has improved from 3.92 in FY2020-21 to 4.7 in FY2023-24.
• It was also noted that subsidies are being paid in time and all govt dues are being paid to UPPCL on centralized basis by departments.
• In last few years Consumer services have been improved greatly through personal hearings and technology based systems. This includes grievance redressal systems like 1912 and state wide online hearing programme through SAMBHAV mechanism under energy Minister’s personal supervision.
• Various other tech based and online services have been initiated including Trust Billing which means self Bill Generation and SMS reminders to consumers for Bill payment and Online Bill Payment.
• Other consumer requests like granting of new connection, disconnection, auto load enhancement, Bill revision, Name & address correction requests, etc. are also being handled through website or the app of the power utilities.
• Up’s record in setting up charging infrastructure for electrical vehicles was also appreciated in the meeting. It also includes formation of a SPV and putting up the infrastructure facility for roadways buses and municipal vehicles.
