Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Kangana Ranaut for ‘Bangladesh-like Situation’ Comment, Calls It a ‘Grave Insult to Farmers’

New Delhi : The BJP has distanced itself from recent comments made by Mandi MP and actress Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ protests. In her controversial statement, Kangana claimed that the protests could have led to a “Bangladesh-like situation” if the government had not taken strong measures to control them. This statement has sparked a backlash, especially from opposition leaders, who view it as a direct affront to the farmers and their movement.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized Kangana Ranaut on Monday for her remarks, describing them as “shameful anti-farmer” comments that are a “grave insult” to the farmers of western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and the entire country. Rahul Gandhi emphasized that such statements undermine the efforts and sacrifices of the farmers who have been protesting against the controversial agricultural laws. He pointed out that these protests were a reflection of the farmers’ struggle for their rights and livelihood, not an attempt to destabilize the country as Kangana suggested.

Rahul Gandhi’s criticism comes in the wake of widespread condemnation of Kangana’s comments from various quarters. Her remarks have been perceived as not only insensitive but also as an attempt to trivialize the genuine concerns of the farming community. The farmers’ protests, which lasted over a year, saw tens of thousands of farmers from different states camping at Delhi’s borders, demanding the repeal of three farm laws that they argued would leave them at the mercy of large corporations.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also voiced his disapproval of Kangana’s remarks, criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he described as their alignment with anti-farmer sentiments. Kharge accused the BJP of promoting an ideology that is fundamentally against the interests of farmers. He stated, “This shameful and highly reprehensible anti-farmer ideology is the DNA of the Modi government.” Kharge’s statement reflects the Congress party’s ongoing critique of the Modi government’s handling of agricultural policies and their perceived insensitivity towards farmers’ issues.

In response to the backlash, the BJP has sought to distance itself from Kangana’s comments, stating that her views do not represent the official stance of the party. BJP leaders have emphasized that while individuals are entitled to their personal opinions, these do not necessarily reflect the party’s position on matters concerning national policy and public sentiment.

Kangana’s remarks have ignited a broader debate about the government’s approach to handling dissent and protest movements, particularly those led by vulnerable communities like farmers.
