New Delhi : The Election Commission of India is set to announce the schedule for state assembly elections on Friday afternoon. The announcement is anticipated to include the poll dates for Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand, as all these states are gearing up for crucial electoral contests.
In preparation for these elections, a team from the Election Commission recently visited Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana to assess the readiness for the polls. The visits focused on reviewing security arrangements, voter registration processes, and logistical plans to ensure a smooth and fair election.
Jammu and Kashmir’s assembly elections will be particularly significant, as they are the first to be held since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which granted special status to the region. The elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand are also expected to be closely contested, with major political parties vying for power.
