Central government is set to partially implement the new Telecommunications Act starting from June 26th

According to a government notification released on Friday, regulations pertaining to specific provisions of the Telecommunications Act 2023 will take effect on June 26. The current, antiquated legal structure for the telecommunications industry, which was based on the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act (1950), the Wireless Telegraphy Act (1933), and the Indian Telegraph Act (1885), has been replaced by the Telecommunications Act 2023.

The provisions of sections 1, 2, 10 to 30, 42 to 44, 46, 47, 50 to 58, 61, and 62 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 (44 of 2023) shall come into force on the 26th day of June 2024, as designated by the Central Government.
