New Delhi | July 13, 2025 — The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the NEET UG 2025 counselling schedule on its website mcc.nic.in. Candidates who have qualified the NEET UG 2025 examination, conducted in May and whose results were announced on June 14, can begin registering for the first round of counselling starting July 21, 2025.
This year, the NEET UG counselling process will cover admissions to MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing courses under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), along with seats at central and deemed universities, including top institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER, AMU, BHU, and ESIC. The MCC will conduct a total of four rounds of counselling, followed by a stray vacancy round for remaining seats.
As per the schedule, the verification of the seat matrix by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and participating institutes will take place from July 18 to 19. Round 1 registrations will remain open from July 21 to July 28 (until 12 noon), with the last date for fee payment being July 28 (3 PM). The choice filling window will be active from July 22 to July 28, while candidates must lock their choices between 4 PM and 11:55 PM on July 28. The seat allotment process will be conducted from July 29 to July 30, and the first allotment result will be announced on July 31, 2025. Selected candidates must report to their allotted institutes between August 1 and August 6, followed by data verification by institutions from August 7 to 8.
Only candidates who have successfully cleared NEET UG 2025 are eligible to participate in the MCC counselling process. This includes those applying under the 15% AIQ, as well as candidates seeking admission to 100% seats in institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER. It also includes the institutional quotas of deemed universities, central universities, ESIC, and special categories such as the AFMC and IP quota.
Following Round 1, the second round of counselling will begin on August 12, with choice filling and seat locking concluding by August 18. The second round results will be declared on August 21, and students must report to institutes between August 22 to 29. A mop-up round (Round 3) will follow in September, starting from September 3, while the final stray vacancy round is scheduled to begin on September 22.
To register for NEET UG counselling 2025, candidates must visit the official MCC portal and select the “UG Medical Counselling” section. From there, they will need to log in using their NEET UG credentials, complete the application form, upload required documents like their NEET scorecard and identity proof, and pay the applicable counselling fee. After that, they can select and lock their preferred colleges and courses before downloading the confirmation page for reference.
As competition for MBBS seats in India continues to rise, the counselling process becomes a crucial step for aspiring medical students to secure their desired college. MCC has emphasized that all participating institutions must strictly follow the announced schedule and treat weekends and holidays as working days to ensure timely completion of the process.
With the registration window just days away, candidates are advised to keep their documents ready and carefully review the seat matrix and counselling guidelines.
