MHA Approves ₹1,912.99 Crore Additional Central Assistance for Flood-Affected States

New Delhi, March 13, 2026: A High-Level Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved ₹1,912.99 crore in additional central assistance for Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The financial support has been sanctioned for regions affected by floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and Cyclone “Monthaduring 2025.

The assistance will be provided from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), in accordance with applicable funding norms, including adjustments linked to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) balances.

The government stated that this support comes in addition to regular disaster-related allocations already provided to states under SDRF and other mitigation funds. Officials highlighted that the Centre continues to extend financial and operational cooperation to state governments during natural calamities.

During the financial year 2025–26, the Union Government has reportedly released ₹20,735.20 crore to 28 states under SDRF and ₹3,628.18 crore to 21 states under NDRF. Further allocations have also been made under disaster mitigation funds to strengthen preparedness and resilience efforts.

Authorities reiterated that the assistance reflects ongoing coordination between the Centre and states to support recovery, rehabilitation, and restoration activities in disaster-affected areas.
