CM Hemant Soren Leads Global Education Push as Jindal Foundation Proposes Jharkhand Partnership

Jindal Foundation Eyes Long-Term Education & Governance Partnership with Jharkhand

Ranchi: In a major push to strengthen Jharkhand’s knowledge ecosystem alongside its fast-growing industrial base, the Jindal Foundation has proposed a wide-ranging collaboration with the state government focused on education, research, and administrative capacity building. The proposal was shared with a senior delegation from Jharkhand led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren during their visit to London.

The proposed alliance is designed to build future-ready human resources while supporting the state’s transformation into a leading industrial and mineral economy.

One of the key pillars of the partnership is academic research in public policy, law, and climate change, with special attention to issues affecting eastern India. The initiative aims to create stronger academic linkages for students from the region while generating policy-relevant research that can guide both state and national decision-making.

Plans are also underway to set up a Centre of Excellence in association with premier Jharkhand institutions such as IIT-ISM Dhanbad and BIT Sindri. The centre is expected to drive advanced research in areas including steel technology, mineral processing, and critical minerals — sectors that are central to Jharkhand’s industrial growth. The move is seen as a step toward boosting innovation and technological leadership in core industries.

A jointly funded scholarship scheme has been proposed, with financial responsibilities shared equally between the state government and the Foundation. The programme will support bright students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, with a special emphasis on encouraging women to pursue higher studies in fields such as public policy, law, and management.

In addition, the initiative will introduce sports-linked scholarships. These will ensure that promising athletes from Jharkhand can continue their academic journey alongside their sporting careers, without financial barriers.

To strengthen governance systems, the proposal includes structured training programmes for government officers. Around 30 mid-level officials from administrative and police services, selected through the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, would undergo specialised training twice a year. The curriculum will focus on modern governance practices, leadership development, and global service delivery standards.

Highlighting the rapid emergence of areas like Ramgarh and Patratu as steel production centres, the Jindal Foundation underlined the growing need for a skilled workforce in the state. The organisation reiterated its commitment to contributing to Jharkhand’s long-term development by investing in education, skill enhancement, and institutional capacity — efforts aimed at improving overall human development indicators.

The proposed partnership signals a combined effort to align industrial expansion with educational advancement and stronger governance systems in Jharkhand.
