Summer Travel Boost as Railways Announces 1,484 Special Trains Across India

Indian Railways Announces 1,484 Summer Special Trains to Ease Holiday Rush

NEW DELHI, March 13: Indian Railways has unveiled an extensive summer travel plan, announcing the operation of 1,484 special trains to manage the surge in passenger demand during the upcoming holiday season. The move is expected to significantly improve ticket availability, especially for travellers from the Delhi-NCR region.

Railway officials said the additional services will run on several busy routes across the country where passenger traffic usually increases during the summer months. The initiative aims to ease congestion on regular trains and provide better chances for passengers to secure confirmed tickets.

According to the railway ministry, the special trains will connect major cities and popular destinations across multiple zones, ensuring smoother travel for families, students and migrant workers heading home during vacations.

Several trains will originate from or pass through key stations in the Delhi-NCR area, including New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Delhi Junction. Authorities expect these routes to witness heavy demand due to increased travel to states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra and southern India.

Officials said the additional trains will operate on a temporary schedule during the summer travel period and will include both reserved and unreserved coaches to accommodate a larger number of passengers.

Passengers have been advised to check updated train schedules and booking availability through official railway platforms before planning their journeys, as the list of routes and operational dates may vary depending on demand.
